Junior’s End of Summer Bucket List

Alas, we can’t make summer last forever. Even though it’s mid-80s today and it feels like we can just skip right into spring, we New Englanders know better. But we might as well make the best of it while we can! So…What do you need to do before the warm weather goes into hibernation? Allow Junior to make some suggestions. This is Junior…

That’s a face you would take advice from, right? Right. Take it away, June!

Yes, hello. I am Junior and I am an authority on adventure. I do love me some leaves and snow, but summer is my season. So, before the warm weather leaves us, do these things with your dog:

  1. Take him or her to the beach, which is now open to dogs. It’s the best time of year!
  2. Enjoy an early morning hike someplace like The Fells, Bradley Palmer State Park, Blue Hills or Breakheart Reservation.
  3. Personally, I am above Pokemon Go, but millions of humans seem to love it. If you’re one of them, take your dog to Castle Island or the Common and catch some rare Pokemon. And, your dog will be happy for the socialization and exercise. Pretty soon it’ll be too cold for Poke-hunting, even for an Articuno. (LOL – you won’t find that Pokemon ANYWHERE!)
  4.  Sun bathe. Trust me, most dogs love working on their tans just as much as you do. Just make sure you give them plenty of water and sunscreen if they need it! Seriously.
  5. SWIM! Who cares where?! If it says dog-friendly, let’s go swimming! There are only so many weeks a year in New England where swimming can even be considered. September is one of them. Get going, people!
  6. One last hurrah on the Vineyard or Nantucket. The ferries are dog-friendly, and so are a ton of shops and restaurants in these tourist destinations. Plus, if you stayed away during July and August because of the crowds, you should be pretty safe now.

All of the above are great ideas. I know because I thought them up. So, what re you waiting for? Get out there with your pup and enjoy the last days of Summer 2016! Your Hound will thank you. Trust me, I’m an authority on adventure.
