As groomers, Cassie and I see plenty of hot spots, ear infections, and ingrown toenails. By far, though, the biggest issue we encounter is matted coats.

Back when my dogs were younger, my partner and I used to spend a lot of time hiking with them in the White Mountains.

I’ve never been one to fuss over my hair. I generally wash it before bed and let it dry overnight. If I’m feeling ambitious, I’ll curl it before rushing off to work, and if it’s a special occasion, I’ll actually use a hair dryer to give it a smooth and polished shine.
April’s Employee Spotlight is on the lovely Kim, who has worn many hats here at the Urban Hound, but has most recently moved upstairs to help out with training. Kim also works in the daycare, serves as a dog chauffeur, and fills in for our walkers when they need it.
While Kim’s achievements at the Urban Hound are important and impressive, we’re here to find out what she does in her spare time!
Once a bonafide cat person, Kim gradually morphed into a dog person after her commute to an old job brought her by the dog park everyday. Of course, one can only see cute dogs playing and having fun so many times before that feeling sets in. You know the one…the I-MUST-HAVE-A-DOG-NOW feeling.
So, Kim found herself a near-perfect little pup, the one and only Moose Pug.
Now, Kim and Moose spend most of their time together. Whether they are hiking, playing at the park, or having sleepovers with friends, Kim and Moose are happiest with each other. If Moose sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because you’ve seen him on Instagram or in our previous post, Moose Pug’s Hipster Christmas Playlist.
Kim is also an avid softball player when the weather allows. She is in two separate adult softball leagues and busies herself all summer with practices and games. (Yes, Moose is there to cheer her on.) Kim also loves traveling and is currently packing for a trip to Europe with her best friend. (No, Moose cannot join on this one.)
Kim spends the rest of her time with family and friends, camping throughout New England, and attending concerts and shows in the Boston area.
Great news, Hounds! Starting this Spring, we will be expanding our walking services to the Seaport District. We are excited to join this bustling community and can’t wait to meet a whole bunch of new friends.
There is nothing quite like a good walk along the water, and opening up our new Seaport route will allow dogs in the area to enjoy this day after day. Let the wind blow back their hair has they strut along Seaport Boulevard enjoying all the sights and sounds the harbor has to offer.
Our brand new walking system, Pet Check Technology, will let you see exactly what your pup did and where he or she went on their walks. We can’t wait to capture some gorgeous pictures of the dogs along the waterway, too. You’ll get a notification straight to your phone when a new photo is uploaded, as well as a report on how the walk went.
Look for us out and about on Thursday nights this month as we meet Seaport residents and hand out FREE walk cards. We’ll be cruising around with our pack of dogs, putting on some training displays and answering questions, so don’t hesitate to come say hi.
We are SO excited to begin our Seaport route! Keep checking back for an official start date later this Spring.
